Get to know the technologies
What is Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is a technology that provides wireless audio and communication, such as between hearing aids and phones.
What is Bluetooth LE Audio?
Bluetooth LE Audio is the latest type of Bluetooth technology for wireless communication between hearing aids and other devices. The ‘LE’ stands for Low Energy, which is more power efficient than classic Bluetooth technology.
LE Audio also provides great audio quality, greater functionality, and seamless connections to more devices. LE Audio is the technology that makes Auracast technology possible. LE Audio is available as standard in Oticon’s latest hearing aids.
What is Auracast technology?
Once it becomes widespread, Auracast technology will enable you to select audio from public systems such as TVs, information screens, and live performances – and seamlessly transmit it to your hearing aids via Bluetooth LE Audio.
Imagine being at an airport and receiving information about your flight directly in your hearing aids. Or tapping into sound from the TV in the gym or waiting room. In the future, you’ll be able to simply switch your hearing aids to an Auracast broadcast and get crisp audio delivered to your ears.
Auracast technology is likely to replace the telecoil audio loop technology that is currently used to transmit audio to hearing aids in public spaces such as churches, museums, and railway stations via FM radio.
Auracast broadcast audio will become available in a future firmware update.
